"This is the one you are looking for, fellow homeowners. If your 20-30 year old (or newer) sump pump has suddenly stopped, or emits a low electrical hum and no longer pumps anything out, it’s time for a replacement and this particular item is the ticket. I paid $130 for this new-in-box off the shelf at Lowes, and installed it in 10 minutes with only a flat-head screwdriver and nothing else. We were just wrapping up a month of snow (4ft in 3 weeks) followed by 45-degree temps and 12+ inches of rain when I noticed my pump has stopped and the sump hole was full to the absolute brim. With a flat head screwdriver I removed the compression clamps that secured the pvc pipe below the check valve, and pulled the whole unit up and out of the water. From there, I simply unscrewed the whole pvc pipe (including the threaded collar piece connecting it to the old pump) without any disassembly, and screwed it right on to the waiting threaded opening of the new pump. Then submerged the new pump into the sump hole, reconnected the pvc pipe to the check valve again and re-tightened the compression clamps with my screwdriver. I plugged it in and it fired up and it cleared out the sump hole in 60 seconds. Then it re-fired a dozen times over the next 5 minutes as the hole kept refilling while the drain-tile did its job. It was super rewarding to see the pump remove water about 10x faster than the drain tile could fill it. Bottom line, 10 minutes and a screwdriver, where I was getting quotes from local plumbers in the $800 to $1,200 range to do it for me. I recommend this Zoeller sump pump because other cheaper models often do not include the float-switch, and if you are replacing one, you should just replace both. The built-in float-switch on this model is a vertical one, so fits perfectly into a standard sump hole.
